The outcome of Arsenal’s late win over Burnley in the
Premier League on Sunday look like they will last for some time.
Arsenal showed great character to win 2-1 after Burnley had
equalized in the 93rd minute via an Andre Gray penalty.
A high kick on Laurent Koscielny bagged Arsenal a 98th
minute penalty which Alexis Sanchez finished with a Panenka.
Xhaka out for 4 games
Arsenal’s win was tarnished somewhat by the sending off of
Granit Xhaka who will now miss four Premier League matches, including the key
visit to Chelsea at the start of February.
And, it looks like Arsene Wenger will also be suspended from
the touchline for the trip to Chelsea as well.
The Evening Standard report on Monday that Wenger faces a
touchline ban after calling referee Jon Moss a “cheat” after Burnley’s penalty
was awarded.
How long will Arsene Wenger be suspended for?
Wenger refused to leave the Emirates touchline and also
pushed fourth official Anthony Taylor in the final few seconds of the match,
from the tunnel.
The Arsenal manager apologized to the media after the game
for his behavior but this is unlikely to save Wenger from a suspension.
The FA will wait for the match report from Jon Moss but
Wenger is likely to face a similar punishment to that received by Alan Pardew
in 2012 for shoving an assistant referee.
Pardew, then at Newcastle, was suspended for two games and
fined 20,000 pounds.
Arsenal’s next game is away at Southampton in the FA Cup,
followed by a home Premier League match with Watford before the visit to
Chelsea.
