Though he is yet to fulfill his bail conditions, Kanu’s
lawyer, Egechukwu Obetta, in a chat with Vanguard said the director of radio
Biafra was granted bail in the sum of 2 million Naira or with surety of N2
million with a civil servant of grade level 16.
According to Obetta, Kanu was in the same cell with
terrorists despite his health challenges which could be life threatening.
His lawyer also said that Kanu is selective to delicacies,
adding that the Biafra radio director promised never to eat any food served by
the federal government of Nigeria.
Kanu, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS)
as soon as he got to Nigeria from the United Kingdom, on Saturday, October 17.
A faction of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign
State of Biafra (MASSOB) had earlier demanded that the federal government
immediately release the radio Biafra director.
In the same vein, the leader of the MASSOB, Chief Ralph
Uwazuruike, on Monday, October 19, disowned the director.
Uwazuruike disclosed that Kanu who was arrested by the
Department of State Security (DSS) does not belong to the Biafra movement.
